Pleasant Boringness

Many claim that this is Jean Paul Gaultier's best fragrance ever. The absurd amounts of hype it gets online can hardly go unnoticed by any perfume afficionado. However, in all honesty, this is pretty boring and generic.

And that's to be expected from designer brands. Mass-appealing, simple, generic... Just nothing that stands out. It opens up with a very prominent cardamom spice, followed by vanillic sweetness and some powderiness from the iris and lavender. These, however, add a rather weird undertone of wet wipes, so basically some edge of "cleanliness". That vibe doesn't last too long, though.

As time passes and it settles, the iris/lavender mellow down with only a mild lavender kind of floral sweetness left; the vanilla stays in charge. Along tag some woody notes, which are quite faint and don't seem to do much. At this point in time, the scent loses any sort of character it might've had at the beginning, and settles with a basic, designer-ish vanilla sweet. There isn't a ton of development, nor is it the best blended fragrance, but it sure smells nice. But only 'nice'.

In terms of longevity, I have little complaints. It lasts for a very solid 8 hours on my skin, while projection is pretty strong for the first 4-5 hours, after which the silage settles down quite substantially. 4, maybe 5 sprays seems the sweet spot for me.

Certainly enough, it's quite versatile, and I think it is versatile enough that you could wear it quite literally anywhere. From a daily-wear, work or maybe even school, to parties, clubs... Sure, you'll smell like nearly every other teenager currently out there, but you surely won't smell bad.

And so back to my point: this is quite overhyped. It's only a nice-smelling designer which adds nothing new to the field, nor does it have any character. It just falls simple, generic, ultimately boring, yet it is collecting fans and hype like no other fume out there. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy it. On the contrary, if you don't care much about fragrances and just want an easy-to-like daily driver, this will do just that. But the fact that it gets so much hype on social media like it's some kind of Jicky Extrait of its era is just absurd.
