Le Mâle Pride Edition Jean Paul Gaultier 2022

It is mid-May 2023, and for many weeks now, one cloud after another has been drifting across the sky, almost every day brings rain, and the temperatures remain clearly below 20 degrees. It is still time for the heavier scents, the long rainy season allows for good preparation for the warmer days. And so, we allowed ourselves the fun of blind testing summer fragrances in the family. Louis Vuitton Imagination, Le Mâle Pride Edition 2022, Roja Elysium Cologne, and Parfum. And behold, the clear winner in the fragrance competition during the rainy month of April was... Le Mâle.

This scent is truly great; it opens up with an incredibly zesty note of fresh blood orange that you can effectively pinpoint. At this point, you don't suspect much of the classic Le Mâle, but over time, that changes, and the citrusy freshness gives way to the Mâle fingerprint of a slightly sweet, yet still fresh and captivating musk note. I find the longevity and sillage for a fresh fragrance to be quite good; Le Mâle Pride Edition 2022 easily wins against the Roja and Louis Vuitton fragrances, which evaporate much faster and project less. And all this at an unbeatable price.

All in all, a fantastic fragrance, and for those who are bothered by the cardigan: it can be removed, leaving a classic, purist Le Mâle flanker.
