Ambar Jesus del Pozo 2010

Ambar was a blind buy because it was cheap, and the comments here were very appealing.

I found the bottle really beautiful right away. I usually prefer practical square shapes like the Molecule's or Serge's, but this one is original in its old-fashionedness.

So far, I agree with almost every commentator here, but the scent is quite different on me. Citrusy and A LITTLE spicy in the top note - okay... Thankfully, I don't smell mandarin, which I also don't need in perfumes. But what comes next deviates significantly from the others. I have the impression that after the top note, the base comes immediately, and it consists, in my perception or on my skin, only of amber, a subtle sweetness, and still the minimal citrus note. The sweetness is just pronounced enough for me to still tolerate it, similar to Absolue by Rochas. I don't smell the flowers or woody cedar and sage - the last two would have actually pleased me, but that doesn't mean I don't like Ambar. I enjoy woody and/or herbal strong scents, but one doesn't want to smell the same every day and isn't always in the same mood, which is why one must have other options available. ;-)
Ambar is very skin-like and somehow backgrounded on me. Light, but noticeable, well-groomed, and very pleasant. Creamy in a way, not a dark amber, but lighter, without frills or depth. A "day amber," not one for the grand evening. It lasts quite long, about 6 hours, despite being so understated.
I also perceive Anna Sui as similarly creamy-light and skin-like.

(You see, I like comparisons. I can relate to them personally more than to flowery digressions.)

Conclusion: For the small price, you get a perfume that not every woman wears, but which has a pleasantly subtle and well-groomed scent that can be worn anywhere. It also seems to develop quite differently, which is why it is truly worth a test!
