The Return of the Disco Ball

Today I noticed a wallflower that had spent years in the shadows. And that was a good thing.
As the "square" Bath + Beauty of the 80s became increasingly rare and thus more expensive, I refused to repurchase it. When the "round" Bath + Beauty, which is the subject here, hit the market, I suspected label fraud, misguided improvements, and all the other disappointments one has experienced as a beleaguered perfume lover. Once again, I declined to buy it, though I hadn't tested it.
In the meantime, however, one of those carelessly designed round bottles found its way into my perfume vault. How exactly that happened, I can no longer determine, but it was certainly at a relaxed, low price or as part of a package.
So it happened that today I was taken aback when I got my hands on the neglected child. Spontaneously, I pressed the sprayer and moistened my arm. I turned the bottle again to check the label. No, it wasn't Woman III, as I had initially suspected due to the green top note. It was indeed genuine reissue B&B!
Strange. I could have sworn I had sprayed W III.
I went about my corona-colored daily tasks and initially forgot this encounter with the supposed B&B.
But then! - Hours had passed - suddenly I smelled something truly wonderful. Something from my heyday. Kylie Minogue began to dance before my mind's eye, illuminated by magenta laser beams. The 80s were suddenly in the same room with me! Room for the Pet Shop Boys, your disco needs you!
A sweet, oriental note that I had painfully missed had returned to me. A bit of fruit and patchouli were also present, carried by warm wood.
B&B Version 2 has made it. It has almost caught up with its predecessor. Despite all the naysayers and prejudices: a good substitute! If you can still find it.

What times are these, where you have to worry about not being able to get the replacement for the replacement of the original anymore. O tempora... Lady-Bump Trophy!

I really liked the original version and didn't want to try the new release. Guess that's off the table now...

I'm so glad you wrote such a kind and delicious comment about the fragrance. We can be pretty tough on re-releases here. Sometimes scents have to be reinvented due to bans, regulations, and a lack of fragrance materials. It's a shame that the new B&B is already "discontinued."

I thought it was great for a while too, but after I went through half a bottle, I suddenly couldn't stand it anymore. But I still gave it a 10. And I’ll stick with that. :)

At some point, I lost track of Jil Sander, partly due to the rather uninspired naming. And unfortunately, it's often the case that a fragrance gets worse when it's re-released. So, I really appreciate every nice surprise.

Ah, it was relaunched? I missed that too. The original was worn a lot in my youth.
