I went to the big orange drugstore today and wanted to sniff around the affordable new releases of recent times. Among other things, I came across Gucci's Guilty Black Homme (ugh) and a few other terrible scents. However, I got stuck on Jil Sander Scent 79 Man.
The fragrance seemed familiar to me!
I don't know the original Jil Sander Man Pure, but I do know Fuoco Infernale by Linari, and both have a lot in common. The price difference can also be detected by the nose. ;O)
Scent 79 Man (2012) starts off herbaceous. No citrus note whatsoever (hooray) and then transforms on my skin into something very smoky. Underneath, spicy notes shimmer through repeatedly. This scent will likely appeal more to the older gentleman demographic. But there are also younger men who find the current citrus-fresh and sweet scent monotony rather boring.
So this fragrance is not a revelation by any means, but as a daily companion at an affordable price, it is quite useful. Moreover, I am grateful for every new release that doesn't smell sporty fresh and/or like icing sugar, even if it is just a reminiscence of one of the fragrance legends. It seems that courage is also required today.
