I describe vintage batches!
It's sad to see how badly it's now rated, but it's also understandable, because it's been ruined to such an extent that it's no longer worth the price, even though it's currently very cheap.
When it was released at the end of the 80s, it was almost an experiment, because its sweetness alone made it very different from what men usually wore at the time. At first, it didn't go down well everywhere, but this changed abruptly in the following years. In the mid-90s, it felt like everyone knew it and people smelled it very often.
The glass bottle is beautifully designed and this dark wine-red color is simply magical, the sprayer is also very good.
There are several good vintage batches. Besides the most popular one with the cornflower, the 2nd Lancaster version is also recommended, which you can often get a lot cheaper. I recently bought another full 125 ml for 59 euros. Even from the early days, when Coty bought the fragrance, you can still get this 2nd version.
The fragrance in the vintage versions is worlds better than what you currently get. It smells deeper and more intense right from the start. You often read that it smells of cherry, but for me it's more of a sweet, spicy red wine of the fine variety. Especially in current batches, it has a very, and for me too dominant, "underarm sweat" note. This is also noticeable in the version with the cornflower, but here it is not nearly as disturbing as in the current version. If you still have a problem with this note, you should go for the 2nd version, as it has been reduced there!
The durability and sillage are very good.
Joop Homme, at least in the old versions, is and remains cult!

I only know this one, from 1:20, although I certainly smelled it a lot in the 90s. I should at least give it a try.
