In the mid-90s, I got a dupe ("Reve d'un Jour") of this scent. Back then, I had to make do with very little money, as I only completed my training in 1997. Even the dupe was incredibly intense and long-lasting; the spicy-sweet vanilla note lingered in my clothes for days. I used it in the summer, but only in the evenings, for example, at summer parties. I found it too heavy for daytime wear.
Recently, I acquired an (used, half-full) original. Somehow, I remembered the scent as fuller and more intense... I still have the dupe: hence the comparison on both arms. There’s little difference; the dupe is a bit spicier, but presumably, both have not escaped the passage of time and have significantly lost their intensity. What a shame! But at least they haven't gone off!
This scent, which embodies for me the mood of a hot summer night, reminds me of the TV movie "Flaming Summer" from 1989 (based on a novel by W. Faulkner). An attractive young stranger (Don Johnson) finds work with a wealthy plantation owner in the southern USA. In the heat-stricken area, several fires break out, and the stranger is falsely accused of arson. In the end, he wins the affection of the cool and willful Noel, the employer's daughter. However, it could have been more the perfume of his daughter-in-law, the extremely sensual Eula (Cybill Shepherd). She hardly let anything "burn."
I can certainly understand why many here mourn this wonderful perfume!
A beautiful scent that I still miss. Thank you so much for allowing me to have a mini bottle in my collection, which I cherish like a precious treasure.
