The original Joop "Homme" is not a fragrance I would personally wear. In my experience, the scent primarily scores on nostalgia aspects. So I approached this fragrance completely without expectations, had no idea what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised. Specifically, that it does not smell like the original.
Strong, sweet, and intensely reminiscent of cherry brandy. That was the first thought I had. I rarely notice real alcohol notes in perfumes, especially not in this price segment. The synthetic quality hits you hard here. The entire Joop "Homme" line is synthetic, no question, but here it’s in full force again.
The whole thing is enveloped by a light chocolate note and yes, what can I say, that’s exactly how the fragrance smells. Cherry brandy in chocolate - in short, Mon Chéri in synthetic - with a bit of powder around it. And there you have Joop "Le Parfum".
Nothing I would ever wear. But nothing that is bad. Longevity is still impressive, but not 20 hours like the original. Thankfully, by the way. Do I need to say anything about the P/L? No, I think everyone can see that it’s good.
