Couture La La is a kind of homage to Juicy Couture. So, a rebirth of the "classic" from 2006. However, this version is supposed to be bolder, more modern, and rockier. Unexpected and always Couture, just like the color pink.
Well, anyone who has to make such a fuss to sell their fragrance... but alright, other brands are not shy about promoting their products either.
The notes don't sound bad. Fruity, floral is also included and according to the advertisement, a transparent musk base. Nothing new or unusual, yet I am looking forward to testing it. I would love to see such a beautiful bottle in my collection. I just like Shishi.
If you love the scent, or absolutely want to buy it come what may, please stop reading. I apologize if anyone feels disturbed by my opinion.
After spraying, I already have to wrinkle my nose. Yikes, hairspray in large quantities and it doesn't even smell nice. Okay, that's bold and unexpected. But where is the expected freshness, the fruits? Nothing, the hairspray has apparently done immense damage to the flowers. There is absolutely nothing to be found of that. I am a bit perplexed and unknowingly spray another spritz on my décolleté. Sometimes fragrances develop differently on other body parts.
After a short while, a musty, stale stench sets in. Does that really come from me? Yes, definitely. It smells like an old, sweaty wool blanket that has been crumpled up while still damp and thrown into a corner of a stuffy room. And there it stayed for two weeks in sweltering heat. Phew, not nice, but maybe it will get better.
After wrestling with Couture La La all day, I can bury my hopes. Along with the musty wool blanket, there is a burnt smell and an unpleasant cheesy undertone.
The scent forms a sinister connection with my skin; I can't explain the result any other way. I also had my boyfriend sniff it, and strangely, he hardly smells anything. Just a hint, and not as disgusting as I perceive it.
As is often the case with unpleasant scents, I find the sillage and longevity to be enormous.
For me, this scent will now be a prime example of how differently fragrances can develop. Such a shame, with the sweet bottle that also sports a silver punk-rock charm around its neck.
Still, I won't demonize the brand; maybe I'll like another fragrance that isn't so creepy. In my case, shocking and unbearable Couture, Lady GaGa style for the hard-boiled.
It may be that the scent shows nicely at arctic temperatures, but let someone else test that.
I'm out!
Addendum 07.08.2013:
On the gifted person, the scent smells much fresher, subtly fruity, and slightly floral, but this musty undertone comes out much milder. However, it doesn't bother her, and the sample is already empty.
"As is often the case with unpleasant scents, I perceive the sillage and longevity as enormous." Yes, you speak a true word calmly; that's exactly how it is! I've noticed that time and again. Thank you for your comment, it's very brave of you to deal with a musty wool blanket for so long.
Funny, on me the scent smells very fresh, not morbid at all or like hairspray. Kind of similar to "Be Delicious." Must be the "skin chemistry." But that's the great thing about fragrances-they develop a bit differently on everyone.
I also tried it out at the perfume store today, and I can only say that I absolutely don't like it. I kept wondering how to describe the scent that bothers me... it's a hairspray note :D
I also really like the bottles from JC, but unfortunately, I've never hit the mark with their scents. Comfort prize for you, and thanks for the great comment - Ti
How on earth does the target audience come out as older ladies with just two comments? Are there fake reviews from 12-year-olds who think anything over 30 is "older"? No grown woman would buy something like that.
Juicy Couture is too boring and too tuberose-heavy for me. I did buy Viva la Juicy, but then I thought it would suit my 15-year-old niece better, so I gave it to her. So I'm out too :-) No need to test... Thanks :-)
Well, I find the notes quite questionable - at least for me and my, uh, skin chemistry, based on experience. Aside from musk (and maybe mandarin), everything else is something to avoid for Ms. Gaukel :-D. But thanks for the warning!
