Big Sur Revisited
Were the forests really here? The California coast at Big Sur? Kerouac could not yet gather a clear thought. The sea sprayed sage like bright green foam, herbaceous-spicy, sharp and fresh, pushing the scent through all the pores of the ethereal needles of the conifers, then he could see clearly again.
The sun surged against the mountain forest slopes, trapping the warmth above the parched earth, causing the resinous needles on the forest floor to crackle, the bright limes baked herb-spicy, darker, browner, almost dry. And Ginsberg buried his face in the bark, rubbed crumbling lichens in his hands and hummed a deep and calm mantra to Kerouac's needle-bodied tanpura, a soft rustle until the break of night, Big Sur was their refuge.

Juniper Ridge, based in Oakland, California, is fully committed to the sustainable ecological production of body care products. The raw materials are mostly harvested wild by the 13-member team, they source woods from sustainably managed forests, and they produce their oils through steam distillation.
"Big Sur (2017)" begins with a tumultuous burst of wild sage, bright, fresh and herbaceous, which blends with the lemony ethereal aromas of cypress resins, before more and more herb-spicy notes like brown needles on dry forest floor, lichens and bark of the Monterey pine come into play. Fluxit already mentioned it in his excellent review of the original version of Big Sur, sometimes a bit more forest floor and bark indeed makes it into the distillation, depending on where and when they gathered the wild ingredients. The moderate mantra resonates an astonishing seven hours.

Spannend!
"Zurück in der Hütte zünde ich das Feuer an und sitze seufzend da und auf dem Blechdach huschen Blätter, es ist August in Big Sur..."
(Und jetzt gucke ich mir nochmal meine herstellervorgegebene Big-Sur-Phototapete auf meinem Rechner an :-D)
