Different than expected
I would like to describe the scent a bit more precisely.
Since Mona Kattan has been actively promoting the fragrance weeks before the official launch, one could already form various ideas about the scent. Until the fragrance notes were published in detail, I expected it to simply smell delicious.
Just like creamy pistachio ice cream. A true gourmand, after all.
However, when I saw that there was also a decent portion of floral notes included and the first perfume influencers spoke of a freshness, all the ideas I had before purchasing were suddenly gone.
I was all the more excited to test "Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33 | Kayali".
It arrived quite quickly yesterday, just a day after I ordered it.
It was sprayed on immediately, and I was completely confused; first impression: floral freshness.
But really only for a very short time, then the freshness departs and the first sweet and nutty notes join the flowers. I can also smell the rum.
At first, I didn’t smell the pistachio at all and was really disappointed.
Although I must say that the first impression right after spraying can be quite overwhelming; I can’t rule out that other more experienced noses might catch the pistachio ice cream immediately.
But after the first minute passed, there it was, the pistachio gelato note. From that point on, the note carries through the rest of the fragrance pyramid.
Over time, the scent becomes sweeter, yet remains light. Like cotton candy, totally sweet but fluffy and airy. However, it never drifts into the kitschy; it rather becomes more gourmand and delicious.
In my eyes, though, the pistachio is not the protagonist. There are still too many other players pushing to the forefront at the fragrance party.
Overall, a lovely scent. I do not regret the blind buy. However, I would have wished that the perfume matched the marketing better and that the pistachio ice cream was more pronounced.
Because in the first few minutes, you really don’t want to eat the scent. The "Yum" feels out of place.
Regarding longevity:
it is solid, lasting about 6 hours.
The sillage is perfectly fine. Not strong, but you are definitely noticed.
