What’s wrong with the Gray today?
Today is a real November day, the clouds are hanging low, it’s raining, everything is gray upon gray.
No dog would be sent out in such weather.
My two boys want to go out willingly.
They watch me closely, no movement escapes them, and when they hear the sound of the PC shutting down, they jump up. Finally, it’s time!! We’re going!!
Dressed in dog-walking attire - meaning jeans, rubber boots, wax jacket, and rain hat, I take a perfume sample from my “worth testing” box, take a quick look - Kenzo - fits, spray it twice and off we go.
The further we move away from the place, leaving the shelter of the houses behind us, the more inhospitable and foggy it becomes. The clouds are hanging very low. I pull my shoulders up, my head is bowed so the rain doesn’t run into my face.
The corn has been harvested, the fields freshly plowed. It must smell incredibly good of mice, hares, and deer. The two dogs can hardly be held back. In front of me, behind me, to the left and right - they are sniffing everywhere. Occasionally, they run back to me briefly to check if the direction is still right. They are having a great time.
Something smells so good. I peek out from under the hood. Nothing is blooming at this time of year. The bushes and trees hardly have any leaves left. Only the raindrops sparkle like pearls on the bare branches.
My wrist smells so good - warm, soft, sweet, and lovely.
Suddenly it’s no longer November, it’s May. It smells of delicate flowers; I can recognize rose and cherry, and of course, my beloved frangipani scent as well. It’s not the fog that surrounds me, it’s the delicate scent of freshly cooked rice wafting over the fields.
I notice that I’m letting my shoulders relax, my posture improves, and my mood lifts. Even the sky isn’t quite so gray anymore.
I keep having to smell my wrist.
The dogs look at me, come to my side. What’s wrong with the Gray today? She’s sniffing more than we are!
Once home, my first stop was immediately at the perfume sample box. It was Kenzo Amour Indian Holi that enchanted me so. The scent lasts for many hours, becoming a bit less sweet but woodier over time. I can clearly recognize incense.
Kenzo Amour Indian Holi has become a fixed star in my perfume sky. It is indispensable from my collection.

This is definitely a scent for the wish list!
It's just the incense that scares me.
