I knew it! And I always said it! You can call yourselves delicious! :DD
Pfffft…
Here I am writing in countless comments how "delicious" ladies with certain fragrances should smell (although this phrase probably doesn't sit well with some), and suddenly a fragrance from Kilian appears that translates to: "I like how you TASTE".
Not "I like how you SMELL", but actually "taste". A fragrance name! So it's not so wrong if I occasionally (or quite frequently :D) use the term "delicious"! Right?? :DD
He he he, and now here comes a unisex fragrance that hopefully makes not only ladies but also gentlemen (especially me!!! *sigh*) smell a little more appetizing! The bottle already makes a nice impression.
**The fragrance:**
Oh wow! The opening somehow blows me away! I smell lemons and mainly a wonderful peppermint, which smells very refreshing to me. The emerging green leaves are not just simply green, but also a bit herbaceous. In any case, the top note is very very nice and brings not only a slightly fizzy refreshment but also good mood.
Of course, the top note fades a bit soon, or rather becomes weaker. Nevertheless, the fragrance remains pleasant with its now softened peppermint notes, and floral scents seem to emerge as well, although I can't really say if they smell like the indicated magnolias.
Unfortunately, the fragrance becomes a bit dull towards the base. I can hardly smell the indicated vetiver; the earthy note initially comes across more like patchouli rather than grassy vetiver. Additionally, the base has turned out sweet. I'm not sure where the sweetness comes from, but I suspect it's from the magnolias. Only a bit later can I detect hints of vetiver, although I still perceive a patchouli note.
As I said, the base is the least spectacular, and I find that very disappointing since the top note started off so wonderfully.
**The sillage and longevity:**
The sillage is average, and you will only be able to smell it a little from close up, initially of course a bit better.
The longevity, on the other hand, is good, which must be due to the sweet base. In any case, I could smell it well on my skin for about eight hours.
**The bottle:**
The bottle is rectangular, thin, and tall. Unlike most of Kilian's black bottles, this one is white, and on the front, you can see green brush strokes that look like grass. Otherwise, the typical chrome metal plaque with the name and brand name is visible on the front, which looks nice but can sometimes be harder to read depending on the light (at first glance, at least). The cap is also chrome and cylindrical. A beautiful bottle!
So,… this fragrance from Kilian leaves me with rather mixed feelings. On one hand, I find the top note incredibly nice and refreshing, making it almost immediately tempting to buy, even if the wonderful top note isn't really worth the high price, as there are many fragrances with a nice top note available for much less money.
On the other hand, the fragrance is rather boring in the base and only smells earthy-sweet, and honestly, not even really great or convincing.
Thus, the fragrance, despite the sweet note, does not turn out to be as "delicious" as one might think (or rather as I would probably write :D), and overall, despite a nice start, it is less convincing, which is a shame because the disappointment is all the greater after such a beautiful beginning if one finds the base, as I do, a bit too trivial.
Of course, one must consider that such fragrances, which are intended for summer, usually smell rather trivial towards the end, so often only the top and heart notes are really good; this applies to most fragrances, but here with this fragrance, the price-performance ratio is really poor :D
Otherwise, I would have said that one could quickly re-spray the fragrance to enjoy the top note longer, but no,… nearly 200 euros (by the way for 50 mL!) is not worth it for me.
If you are still looking for a great peppermint fragrance that smells just as good, then try Menthe Fraîche by Heeley, which I find much more successful! The base on that one is still nice, and the fragrance costs much less (about 125 euros for 100 mL).
The weak sillage almost puts me off, but the rest of your comment makes me want to give it a try. Let's see..... Price-wise, all Kilian fragrances are way overpriced, but you get more or less the guarantee of not running into another wearer of the scent.
It's a shame it didn't develop as beautifully on your skin, especially considering the good longevity for a fresh scent. But hey, the Heeley sounds great and it has tea in it :)....Adding it to my wishlist!!! I'm leaving you a consolation trophy and pouring in a delicious sip of spicy Tiger Chai ;).
