My New Reference Sweet Pipe Tobacco Fragrance...

Le Tabac opens with a sweet baked cinnamon apple pie accord with underlying pipe tobacco. As the fragrance enters its early heart the pipe tobacco emerges from the shadows as the real star with a very sweet honey accord as co-star. Just underneath the honeyed pipe tobacco lies a slightly indolic floral undertone that shrinks as time passes until undetectable by the end of the heart phase. During the late dry-down the honeyed pipe tobacco recedes to reveal patchouli grounding the composition from its base. Projection is average and longevity is very good to excellent at over 10 hours on skin.

Le Tabac is a relatively simplistic minimalist composition, but what it lacks in complexity it makes up in quality and execution. The honeyed pipe tobacco accord used here is the best I have sniffed to date, besting mainstays in the subcategory like Back to Black by By Kilian (which it most closely resembles until the late dry-down where Back to Black turns powdery and Le Tabac does not) and Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford. Folks seeking a relatively sweet pipe tobacco scent need not look further than this reference quality 4 star out of 5 rated excellent one.
