Of Pleasantry and Personal Scent

The first time I smelled Dzing!, I instinctively recoiled. What was that!? What is lovely and pleasant about it?! Would anyone want to smell like this?
The answer took quite a while to reveal itself. Over the years, I have tested Dzing! again and again. I ignored the wrinkled noses of friends and family and tried to understand the scent. And now folks, I am proud to announce: I got it. The answer is: Dzing! is not lovely and pleasant. No one will tell you how incredibly good and wonderful you smell with it. Better not wear it in the office or at the opera. People who don’t know you well and don’t realize you are perfume freaks might think you smell.

That could almost suffice as a fragrance description, but only almost. Because if Dzing! stinks - why do I still like the scent?
Because it wonderfully expresses closeness. Intimacy, familiarity, security with and within oneself. Don’t misunderstand: Dzing! is too intimate to be an olfactory cuddle blanket or to evoke familiar togetherness with the option for more. Dzing! is more like what you sometimes perceive when you enter your own room. Or smell your own clothes. Or when you press your face into a dog’s fur, which doesn’t smell like flowers either, but hey, you love him, and he sees you in your scruffy clothes and looks at you wagging his tail and happy. THAT is Dzing!

"Familiarity, security with and within oneself." How beautiful! I don't find this scent unpleasant or particularly striking at all; it's more like how Bertel commented on it ages ago. However, I do feel the mood you describe with these words.

I've always been looking for a scent that smells like animal fur. I might have found it now...

Oh yes! My dog smells totally nutty! I love his scent. I definitely have to try Dzing soon. Thanks for the comment. I'll set a bowl of Dzing out for you!

I'll have to give Dzing! a try next time I get the chance. I probably won't need it after that. :)

@ Seerose: The strange thing is that I don't perceive Dzing! as musty (anymore), just like my clothes or my room. They don't smell bad, but they definitely smell like me. I would have completely agreed with you two years ago!

@loewenherz: I just read your comment, and it could almost be used 1:1 for Dzing! ;) I remember Jeux de Peau being more gourmand, but Dzing! has a similar sweetness thanks to the caramel and tonka.

Good, Pokal+. But then I might as well just sniff at such things. I don't need perfume for that; I'm not a "fan of wet areas." I completely lack any understanding of enjoying stinky scents, whether in real life or as perfume.

Good comment. It sounds almost like a twin of Jeux de peau. Check out my comment on it and let me know if that's true. :)
