Soft, dreamy almond and grains

Jour de Fete starts out as a grainy green almond fragrance that feels like wildflowers and fields in the sunshine. It's fresh, but also warm, and very soft. It reminds me of the English Fields collection by Jo Malone, not of one specific fragrance, but the general vibe of the line. As this is older, maybe it was the inspiration behind it. Anyways, I can really imagine how this could be worn to eat a slice of cake in a farm café or for a relaxed bike ride in the countryside.
As the fragrance dries down, it turns a little warmer, sweeter and more powdery. Vanilla and iris start to shine next to the almond. At this stage it makes me think of Guerlain's Cuir Beluga, but it's much more transparent and by no means exactly the same. It just has a similar texture.

This is very light and tender, nothing for performance junkies. I think it wouldn't be as pretty if it was a strong scent, but a tiny bit more lasting power wouldn't have hurt. Otherwise it's a beautiful scent. It would be nice if they brought it back again one day.
