There are these fragrance samples that are treated with neglect. I can't explain why, but they slip down in the drawer, hide for months in your handbag, or fall behind your bathroom laundry basket. Such is the case with Ambre.
Probably included as a sample by a dear perfumer, I hadn't laid eyes on this little scent for a long time. It was only when I desperately searched for a fragrance (staying overnight at a friend's, forgot my perfume, felt "naked" in the morning) that I found the small sample again. Behind the laundry basket, of course.
Unaware, I boldly spray it on (on some days, any perfume is better than none) and am completely blown away.
OOOOOOOMMMPHHHH
What wafts under my nose is by far the most wonderful, golden, sweetest, spiciest, and most sensual amber scent in the whole wide world. Yes, I want to say it that way.
Amber is dense and delicate at the same time, holding the perfect balance between delicious and "but you can't eat me." Vanilla and labdanum give the fragrance a woody depth without becoming dry and add such a narcotic touch to the composition that I could fall into a coma from happiness.
I have rarely experienced such feelings of bliss with a fragrance. It's a dream that it lasts forever and brings joy to those around me through its sillage just as it does to me.
However, less dreamy is the fact that it has been discontinued.
Upon realizing this, my jaw dropped to the floor and my heart sank into the aforementioned fluffy socks. Talk about a blow!
After extensive research (which in this case took 10 minutes), I found out that L'Occitane has re-released this fragrance. As a limited edition, listed as a "classic."
My heart can rise again!
And I can only conclude: those looking for the most beautiful amber scent will find a very strong candidate in Ambre. It has captured my heart in a storm, because the unexpected often happens!
