Exceptions Confirm the Rules

As the saying goes? Exceptions confirm the rules.
I am still very new to the world of fragrances - at least when it comes to "serious engagement" with it. Until a few months ago, my nose could hardly do more than "like" or "dislike." I could rarely articulate why I liked or disliked a scent. Nevertheless, in line with the Dunning-Kruger effect, I had a clear idea of what I did not like: heavy orientals and gourmands, especially vanilla scents. It seemed clear to me that I could easily pass by gourmand dessert fragrances.

And then I came across this candidate here.

La Nuit Blanche is somehow different from all the other vanilla fragrances I have encountered so far. It feels natural. Not overly sweet. Not headache-inducing. But friendly. Appetizing. Mood-lifting and very, very comforting. Even when unpacking, the scent wafted towards me, and I was already pleasantly surprised. So without further ado, I applied it to my forearms. One spray on each side was enough to fill the room respectfully and unobtrusively. And it was as if Mom had just cooked fresh vanilla pudding. There was (almond) milk and real, genuine Bourbon vanilla. There was also a bit of marzipan and a tiny hint of sunscreen, which makes the scent feel very spring-like in my eyes.
In the first two hours, I mainly perceived the vanilla pudding and marzipan. However, it was grown-up from the start, not very sweet. On the cup in the refrigerated section, it would say: Now 30% less sugar!
After two hours, delicate caramel notes made their appearance. Because the weather was nice (mild, sunny, but not hot), I went outside for a walk. Here, something bright and delicately floral developed on my skin. Perhaps orange blossom water? Feather-light, barely perceptible. The scent was certainly not too cloying or sweet even while moving in the sun. In fact, a slight spritziness emerged. It was now leaning more towards vanilla yogurt.
After six hours, the scent is still perceptible, but noticeably weaker. Still no headaches, still not annoyed. Instead, just a great desire for a vanilla dessert. Now would be the time to possibly reapply. But that’s not necessary, as the vanilla retains its friendliness and coziness in its delicacy.
By the way, even a beginner like me could easily sniff out and analyze the fragrance notes and development - a great success experience!

In short: I am smitten. I couldn’t keep my hands off my arms all day. I would have liked to nibble on them. A truly genuine feel-good fragrance that does not disturb the surroundings but is perceived pleasantly and can actually trigger a craving for dessert.
So far, I haven’t tested La Nuit Blanche at work, but I could definitely imagine doing so. The scent has absolutely convinced a great skeptic of vanilla and gourmand fragrances and made me reconsider my own stance. Most people probably associate vanilla more with the cold season. However, I don’t think this scent can only be worn in autumn/winter. It is also an absolute mood lifter in mild and sunny weather. I will also try the scent in midsummer: after all, vanilla ice cream is a thing too. Only those who have to or want to avoid desserts and sweets should be cautious! It really makes you crave it.

P.S.: La Nuit Blanche means: The long or sleepless night. I don’t know how they came up with the name for this fragrance. The common association, which I also had with (cheap) vanilla perfume, namely red-light vibes, I can’t find here at all. But well, maybe marketing couldn’t come up with anything better.
