I Would Have Liked You So Much

I received Khamrah as a gift and right off the bat: unfortunately, I am not a fan at all.

I have a total problem with Akigalawood.

To me, it is a kind of spicy woodiness that reminds me of rotten/moldy wood, but in a very synthetic way. This was particularly bad with "Guidance | Amouage," which I really could not stand at all.

The fragrance starts off very beautifully gourmand and smells like baked apple with cinnamon. I was really happy that I couldn't smell any Akigalawood at all. But after a few minutes, that note did creep into my nose, initially just subtly, but over time it became more intense.

Directly on the skin, it remains very gourmand for a long time, but the sillage, for me, quickly consists solely of Akigalawood.

By the way, I own "Angels' Share | Kilian" and I really cannot understand why many people smell a similarity. To me, Angels' Share smells intensely of hazelnut, woods, and cognac, and the sillage is also dominated by these notes.

The only common denominator for me is the cinnamon and the classification as winter fragrances.

Angels' Share also smells very linear to me, while Khamrah has a changing scent progression.

For me, these are two completely independent fragrances.

However, I find the bottle to be super high-quality! You really get something for your money, and if you like the scent character, you truly get a very qualitative fragrance. Therefore, the price-performance ratio is top.

Man, that's such a shame! I love gourmands, but unfortunately, I also hate Akigalawood 😖

Yesss, and then Akigalawood is such a potent, dominating note that you really can't "smell" past it. 😄
