I can't get over the fact that I want to compare this fragrance again from my perspective with Initio. Even though there probably isn't much new to say, I can only fully agree with some of the previous speakers.
I only knew Initio before, and for people who like fragrances of this kind, both are probably a delight. I have had Lattafa's oud for glory for about 2 weeks now and have only worn it briefly once on my wrist after acquiring it. In fact, the Initio immediately came to mind without any negative connotation. That's why today a direct comparison is due for me.
The two are damn similar. Only fine and often precise sniffing back and forth shows the difference well. Which, to be honest, I don't find that bad at all. I actually like both equally well in their own way (bad for Initio - good for Lattafa). I'm constantly sniffing left/right or right/left today. (ᵔᴥᵔ)
Lattafa, however, hardly undergoes any change after 2-3 hours. Whereas Initio works slightly, discreetly further, bringing more fine oud and slightly spicy notes that are simply missing in Lattafa. Initio also remains a little stronger than the clone. However, that doesn't diminish it (the clone); the performance of both fragrances is very good but not too intrusive. Only the volume becomes a bit thinner, while Initio simply remains fuller.
Overall, I also perceive Glory as a touch sweeter in the wood. However, that doesn't make it any less attractive. It is absolutely harmonious, and I definitely felt comfortable wearing it for the first time without needing a moment to acclimatize or ease into it.
But the whole comparison really only stays within a very minimal framework because they are so similar.
Regarding the bottle and the presentation... you just have to like it. I simply prefer to touch glass, just for the tactile experience. This plastic cover wasn't absolutely necessary. Visually, the presentation is somewhat chic, and the window has its charm, but the quality of the packaging carries a strong inherent smell (thankfully not overpowering), as does the firm foam in which the bottle is relatively tightly secured (at least for me, very tight), but even this foam doesn't smell that great. The almost stinking material also clings to the bottle. Which is well made in itself. Only the cover isn't really my thing. The bottle is also very heavy, and the spray head works very well. In any case, the smell of the packaging makes it hard to smell the fragrance from the bottle.
Do you need both fragrances? Not really.
If you only know one of the two, you won't miss anything.
But in direct comparison, I am happy about both.
As I said, if you like such fragrances but still want to smell the difference for yourself, just test the Initio and buy the Lattafa for less than 30€. If you still really want to own the expensive original because you like it more, you'll just have to spend more money.
I will gladly wear both, probably the Lattafa version more often in the future to save on the expensive one, but also because I find it a bit more suitable for daily wear. It's just subtly more pleasing and a tiny bit softer. However, if I want more of the fragrance for possibly special occasions, I will definitely reach for the Initio and enjoy a few more beautiful, complex nuances in my nose.
