...and already pricked by the thorn
But as it so aptly says on the beautiful packaging of Loverose: "He who wants the Rose must respect the Thorn."
I have been hooked by this scent, the bottle, and everything about it.
Here’s the explanation why:
My husband and I were out and made a little detour to our favorite store, which has all sorts of fine things for the nose, body, mind, and soul in its repertoire.
Right at the front in the entrance area, a beautiful black pyramid caught my eye.
Of course, I left my husband standing there and rushed over to the little tower. My eyes immediately
took in the packaging and the perfume, as I had only read about the scent so far and was therefore soooo curious.
And there it stood, needing to be tested immediately.
Before I get to the scent itself, a few general pieces of information (this is the first comment on the scent, so
a little intro:)
1. Loverose by Lena Hoschek. She is a fashion designer from Austria who also apprenticed with Vivienne Westwood. She reflects her passion for film stars of the 40s and 50s in her fashion
and this is also noticeable in the scent. She has a penchant for pin-up girls and her role model is the ultimate pin-up icon: Dita von Teese. Sounds interesting, I thought.
2. Loverose by Lena Hoschek by Wienerblut: The new fragrance was developed in collaboration with the Austrian fragrance specialist WienerBlut. Perfumer Valerie Garnuch-Mentzel, the creative nose of WienerBlut, was inspired by designs from Lena Hoschek during the development. The rose is at the center of it all. I Love Roses.
3. The bottle is beautiful. It surely also stands in Dita von Teese's boudoir. It has a spray nozzle and can therefore be dosed perfectly. The bottles are handmade in a small Catalan workshop. It feels good in the hand and is already a little work of art in itself. I must have it just for that reason.
4. The ingredients can be found above. However, I would like to briefly touch on one notable ingredient:
Beaver castoreum. It is said to have an aphrodisiac and stimulating effect, and I can only say the following about it to create a transition to the really important part of my review:
Flashback shortly after I held the bottle in my hands and the first spray found its way onto my wrist...
I wake up, realize that I can hardly breathe, look down at myself and then into a beautiful golden mirror. I see myself in a beautiful black robe that accentuates my breasts, above it a elaborately embroidered corset that has been tightly laced and skillfully emphasizes my waist and hips.
I can hardly breathe, but somehow it stimulates me. I wear red lipstick and admire my elegantly but also a little wildly pinned-up hair.
I am led in semi-darkness by an unknown hand through a corridor into a dark room. A heavy velvet curtain parts, and I glimpse in the numerous corners individual beautiful red roses illuminated from above. It is a beautiful sight and as I am guided past the roses, I feel a warm, tingling scent rain from exactly those corners. I am startled at first because the scent is literally breathtaking. I feel dizzy and I am sure it is not just because of the corset. The first breath is hard for me, the air is almost dry and my red lips taste of earth. This makes me curious and I just keep going in the hope of trying and experiencing more.
I don’t have to wait long for that, because after the fog has settled, I perceive an erotic, seductive, and animalistic component that makes me tremble both inside and out. It accompanies me the whole time and only fades away hours later. It settles on my skin and becomes my second.
Almost like latex. I want more of it and wonder what else is to come and what will also remain....
Iris also joins in and gives the whole thing a touch of tenderness and fragility.
It softens me and brings me down a bit from my lascivious and dominatrix-like cloud.
Am I in heaven or in the hot hell?
No matter. As the saying goes? Good girls go to heaven and bad girls go everywhere?
Something like that was the saying, right?
I linger in my black-red boudoir and give in to the impressions. I indulge and dream...
until someone grabs my arm and, with the words "wow, what smells so sexy here," pulls me out of my dream.
I just say to my husband, "I’ve been pricked."
Now Loverose also stands in my boudoir...
