La Rose is the latest addition to my collection of rose fragrances and is completely different from all the others I own. When I wear this rose, I feel instantly transported to Miss Marple's rose garden:
Miss Marple has set the table for tea on a beautiful wooden table, surrounded by six wooden chairs with soft seat cushions. A lush bouquet of light red and orange roses sits on the table, and all around the garden, various relatives of these roses are blooming, right next to the heliotrope bushes.
On the table, strong English tea is steaming, fresh cream is in a small jug, and instead of sugar, Miss Marple has provided light acacia honey.
On a round porcelain plate, there are fresh, soft biscuit pastries with juicy raisins and rose petals, a little bit of white rum - for the aroma, says Miss Marple - and almond slivers.
It is midsummer, late afternoon, the sun is already slightly slanted, and all the flowers in the garden cast shadows. The evening breeze blows gently, making the flowers sway, and it almost looks like the shadows are dancing. The scent of the roses and heliotrope mingles with the dark aroma of the tea, honey, and cream.
I sit down at the table, pour myself tea with cream and plenty of honey, and pull the vase with the roses a little closer to me to better appreciate their scent. Savoring one of the biscuits, I compliment Miss Marple on how beautifully she has tended her garden, how wonderful everything smells, and how delicious her biscuits are.
She invites me to come by more often, as summer is not over yet, and I could still spend many lovely days in her garden. She would brew tea again and bake those delightful biscuits.
Well, as I can see, it brings you the greatest pleasure to introduce us to one of your treasures with your highly entertaining reading. Excellent, my dear, simply splendid! :-))
Ah, lovely. I can see Mrs. Marple and you right in front of me, sitting together in her rose garden, chatting comfortably and sipping tea. And somehow, I suddenly feel like it smells strongly of roses here. Cheers!
