So, if we imagine ourselves standing up there with Saint Peter, who opens the creaking door and peeks out a bit to see who is knocking - then perhaps this scent from heavenly realms would come through the crack.
So - in heaven, there is a lot of wood and little fruit. That much is clear.
Bergamot is probably only allowed to live in the outskirts, and raspberry and pineapple are definitely NOT in heaven… perhaps they were naughty and have to go back to purgatory?
No soft clouds and jubilant little cherubs - rather stacks of sandalwood from the hardware store, “cashmere” wood (for me, that’s still a soft fiber from the undercoat of the cashmere GOAT) and some bitter elements from oozing resins and tree saps. A woody, bitter freshness comes from the crack, but there is still more!
The overall impression is very delicate. Very ethereal. Soft, elusive, tender, and a bit transparent. A cocooning scent, which, in stark contrast to the heavy hitters, also has its rightful place. It stays close to the wearer, but through a refined sillage, it conveys a fragrant shimmer.
I’m crawling around on my wrist with my nose, trying to find at least a tiny violet or the freesias - nope!
Everything is initially well hidden by wood and resin.
However, the overall composition is by no means a bitter something, but all components unite into a lovely-soft, creamy-plush comfort scent.
Two small, cheeky putti named Tonka and Benzoin flutter around me all the time, and through their flurry and hustle, I can hardly find the little flowers.
After a while, the scent develops, and only then can I sense the other little angels in scent heaven - the flower angels are sitting around somewhere, playing their baroque harps very softly, and a little, erotic musk angel is tiptoeing through blobs of labdanum.
All in all, a fine scent, subtle yet somehow noticeable, well adhering with a small sillage. Delicate and promising, caressing and tender.
Heavenly gate? Seems somehow painfully boring in there ;-), even if soft and cozy.
I don’t necessarily have to go there yet!
