Esencia by Loewe - Love at the Second Sniff
At the beginning of my perfume journey, I had the chance to get to know one of my absolute favorites, the Esencia Eau de Parfum
The scent, despite its freshness, evokes no associations with sun, beach & sea, but rather transports me imaginatively to a waterfall in the woods on an early summer morning - the first rays of sun make their way through the trees of the forest and reflect excitingly in the crystal-clear water of the rushing waterfall. The peppery opening of the fragrance is simply wonderfully fresh and invigorating, like the sunbeams in the mist of the bubbling waterfall. A note of juniper joins in, along with some lavender and cedarwood. The greenery of the forest is also enhanced by the exciting use of basil and tarragon. The sun rises at the waterfall...
When the summer sun finally breaks through, the Esencia Eau de Parfum shines in its lightly "green" pepper dress, revealing its true beauty: wonderful notes of sandalwood, vetiver, and a hint of moss join in the base. The forest has awakened, and the moss is already slightly warmed, the fresh breeze from the steam (pepper) cools, and the wood of the forest creaks in the wind.
The fragrance is balanced, not over-the-top, and represents a great composition. It is very fresh without being aquatic, with wonderful woody and slightly spicy undertones - simply a special scent. In my opinion, it is the "greener" and better version of Aventus, without smoke and pineapple.
But why love at the second sniff? Because the first sniff reminded me very strongly of Creed's Aventus or its Arabic clone "Club de Nuit Intense Man (Eau de Toilette) | Armaf," which I didn't like at all - it was too loud and over-the-top for me, and I have no desire to be shouted at all day. However, after the initial "shock" wore off, I discovered in Loewe Esencia a balanced, not over-the-top, and greener fragrance, and I was smitten...
Moreover, I have already been approached several times about how wonderful (and unique) I smell today. And who doesn't like to hear that?
In this sense:
Thank you for your attention - I have the honor,
your Pfleddinho

I also thought of Aventus mainly when I first smelled the fragrance. And I can't deny there's a certain similarity... However, I like the Esencia much better, probably especially because it lacks the pineapple and the smokiness of Aventus. I often have issues with strong (Christmas) smoky notes anyway.
