What a Happy Accident!
"We don't make mistakes. We just have happy accidents." That's how the famous TV painter Bob Ross put it. I call it - my marketing professor may mildly punish me for assimilating this term - a variant of serendipity. Background: A year ago, perhaps a little more, a perfume order from the vastness of the Internet came with a free sample of Loewe 001 Man. I was thrilled. And perplexed at the same time. Because as much as I liked the fragrance, I found it difficult to categorize it. Not by occasion. Not by time of day. Not by season. And - my marketing professor will agree with me - if you don't know what you need something for, then ... you just don't buy it.
Well then. One of these mysterious cerebral convolutions recently conjured up the memory of this perfume from its ... um ... sleeve. I couldn't find my free tester anywhere, but the remaining contents would probably have diffused into the atmosphere of the bathroom microclimate anyway. So: into the shopping cart with Loewe 001 Man! A quasi-blind buy. In fact: the most uncertain purchase (may my German teacher punish me mildly) since the mathematical quantities "History of Perfumes" and "Zacharias' Presence on the Planet" are divisible.
And what do I say? This perfume is just ... awesome. When I spray it on, I'm enveloped in pepper, lime and sweet wood. And while the other brands out there, the longer you leave them on, become more and more leathery, powdery, often even musty, Loewe 001 becomes more pleasant with every minute you wear it. It is a feel-good fragrance. I smell it and I feel good in my skin. Loewe does an excellent job of balancing citrusy freshness, herbaceous woodiness and a dash of sweetness. This makes this fragrance a true all-rounder. It suits a working day in the office as well as an informal evening event, such as a casual cocktail party.
As a season, I tend to associate Loewe 001 Man with the warmer half of the terrestrial elliptical orbit of our stellar photon pump - but even if you wear this fragrance in snow flurries, you won't go far wrong. Loewe 001 in winter is a happy accident at best. May Bob Ross punish me mildly.
