What a Happy Accident!
"We don't make mistakes. We just have happy accidents." This is how the famous television painter Bob Ross expressed it. I call it - my marketing professor may mildly punish me for the assimilation of this term - a variant of serendipity. Background: A year ago, maybe a bit more, a perfume order from the vastness of the internet came with a free sample of Loewe 001 Man. I was thrilled. And puzzled at the same time. Because as much as I liked the scent, I found it hard to categorize. Not by occasion. Not by time of day. Not by season. And - my marketing professor would agree - if you don’t know what you need something for, then … you just don’t buy it.
Well then. Some of those mysterious cerebral twists recently conjured up the memory of this perfume from the … um … sleeve. I could no longer find my free tester anywhere, but presumably, the remaining content would have already diffused into the atmosphere of the bathroom's microclimate anyway. So: into the shopping cart with Loewe 001 Man! A quasi-blind buy. Actually even: the most uncertain purchase (my German teacher may mildly punish me) since the mathematical sets "History of Perfumes" and "Zacharias' Presence on the Planet" are equal parts.
And what do I say? This perfume is simply … amazing. When I spray it on, I am enveloped by pepper, lime, and sweet wood. And while the other brands out there become increasingly leathery, powdery, and often even musty the longer you wear them, Loewe 001 becomes more pleasant with every minute of wear. It is a feel-good scent. I smell it, and I feel good in my skin. Loewe excellently manages to balance citrus freshness, herbal woodiness, and a touch of sweetness. This makes this scent a true all-rounder. It suits a workday in the office just as well as an informal evening event, like a casual cocktail party.
As a season, I associate Loewe 001 Man more with the warmer half of the terrestrial elliptical orbit of our stellar photon pump - but even if you wear this scent in a snowstorm, you can hardly go wrong. Loewe 001 in winter is at most a happy accident. Bob Ross may mildly punish me.
