If truth be told, I prefer the original Lolita Lempicka. It's sweet, complex, joyful and young. It always puts a smile on my face but I don't wear it in public.
But if more truths be told, Eau de Minuit is the Lolita Lempicka that I do wear in public. It's s unique but dark fragrance that is round & full-bodied in spite of being a simple composition. Although it's in the midnight line-up of Lolita fragrances, it's wearable during the day, especially in Fall & Winter.
Overall, Eau de Minuit has a soft & spicy quality, and it seems like a classic oriental without being one. The benzoin & vanilla just sing on my skin within 5 minutes of application. The violet is replaced by iris in the composition & is very subtle, as is the licorice on top. The myrrh isn't burning, but adds a touch of woodiness that is almost cedar-like. It's best on my skin when lightly refreshed after a an or two hours of the initial application. Oh My. Quite. Lovely.
This is a limited edition fragrance, and the back of the box is labeled "Couture." The couture-label is one with which I agree. The quality of the fragrance approaches the luxe market and the uniqueness of the fragrance could place it there too.
The original puts a smile on my face but I wear Eau Minuit Couture. In fact, I think a lot of guys could wear it too.
It's always difficult for me to tell these apart when I wear them independently! I, too, am fond of them--and also the bottles!--though I feel that in theory they are too sweet. Maybe just because I love black licorice?
