The Dance of the Sugar Fairy

Rarely have I encountered a perfume with such significant reservations as Lolita Lempicka. Untested, I had dismissed the scent as an Angel offspring - which it indeed is - and that is usually not my world. However, at some point, my enthusiasm for the enchanting bottle overcame my prejudices, and LL ended up on my wrist during a shopping trip at a well-known drugstore chain. After all, I wanted to make sure I could scrub it off as quickly as possible if needed.
My first impression was: Harmless. Phew. Lucky me. And as I maneuvered my shopping cart further between the shelves of toilet paper and dog food, I had almost forgotten the scent.

Until something incredible happened…

In my inner ear, Tchaikovsky played. First timidly, then more clearly, I heard chords from the Nutcracker, and before I knew what was happening, I transformed there, at the corner between baby wipes and dry shampoo, into the Sugar Fairy. A wonderfully transparent aura of herbal violet notes in conflict with the sugary sweetness of Amarena cherries and cotton candy clouds enveloped me, the glow of green accents and cool anise gave the dreaded gourmand patchouli an unknown lightness and freshness, only to gently land on a feathery pillow of iris and velvety violet.
In hindsight, I couldn't swear whether I truly and honestly rose to my tiptoes and danced ballet in the local drugstore that day.

What a cheerful, carefree scent! When I spray it on, it reliably brings a smile to my face. Despite all its sweetness and lightness, it is not lacking in depth, and with each wear, I discover new facets. The Tchaikovsky impression remains - sometimes as a classical ballet, sometimes in Duke Ellington's version.
LL has taught me that a perfume is more than the sum of its parts and that being a pyramid snob deprives one of some beautiful scent experiences. You can never know where hidden treasures await.

Just read this now.
I really like the association with the Nutcracker Suite (Sugar Plum Fairy).
The time to listen to it again is coming soon, maybe with the matching fragrance.
And yes, it does lean towards Angel, I noticed that in the '90s too.
And the bottle is amazing.

Just found and read this today - how lovely is that! I guess I need to toss a few prejudices about pyramids overboard... and you added it to my watchlist, unbelievable!

Hard to believe when you look at your magic/not magic list. It's nice to read how the sugar fairy has snuck into your heart.

Oh, that's a brilliant directorial idea: The metamorphosis into a Nutcracker ballerina amidst common drugstore goods... And a great soundtrack to top it off.
Exciting!

"'Pyramid snob' - well said! I'm also looking beyond my usual fragrance choices and making some lovely discoveries (Tabac Blond!). Interestingly, this scent reminds me of Mozart - or Black Forest cherry with a bouquet of violets, I might like that ;-) Victoria Frolova also reviewed it well on her blog 'boisdejasmin'..."

I didn't want to test it at first either... but then I was more than pleasantly surprised... this happens to me more and more often in recent years :)
Nice comment :)

My package with this fragrance just arrived. I also let myself be tempted by the comments here - normally, I would have placed this scent for 20-year-olds. Now I'm looking forward to testing it. And it seems like I got a great deal at Notino.
Oh, I'm so curious if the sugar fairy will come!

I think the scent is fantastic too, even though I don't wear it that often. But I love that it's a spray of happiness. It's great that we have our fragrances during this silly time.

Yesss, the first harmless impression of this scent is really misleading! Unfortunately, I can't do ballet; I prefer to hum something cheerful while wearing it ;-) Ballet trophy!
