Very helpful Review
A silky oriental, interpreted in a completely different way
In Fleur de Desert, I have finally found a very chic oriental fragrance that is easy to wear.
What some criticize in forums, but for me is a big plus. First of all, Fleur de Desert is undoubtedly very special, very chic, evening, and elegant; NEVERTHELESS, it is neither too dense nor overly opulent. Fortunately, it does not smell too classically mature and carries no age.
It is an aromatic, interesting, diffuse, silky scent for the evening that smells wonderful now in summer! In the heat, the oud note becomes fresher and the spice wood notes smoother.
Secondly: I must say that I have fallen in love with the combination of notes that I have not smelled in the last 15 years.
Primarily, it is a floral fragrance, where rose, jasmine, and orange blossom play together. This creamy fresh floral ensemble is supported by wood and amber. The icing on the cake, the cherry on top, the non plus ultra for me is the dark honey with a pinch of cinnamon (and Moroccan lemon salt?). It smells fantastic but not ordinary.
Anyone expecting something sticky and sweet at this point might be disappointed. I am not a fan of overly sweet scents myself, and artificial sweetness quickly becomes too much for me; I am quite sensitive and immediately put off. Fleur de Desert is also, in this regard, a very harmonious, rounded, and not exaggerated fragrance.
The sweetness is moderate and mainly based on the amber accord, so it has a woody resinous character. It could smell like a freshly brewed sweetened espresso with coffee grounds, cardamom, cinnamon, and honey (to compare the level of sweetness).
It wears so finely, so silky light but not inconspicuously! I like this kind of fragrance that manages this balancing act. This also justifies the price of the fragrance in my eyes; I have the feeling that I am paying less for the Vuitton brand here than for the actual content of the bottle. You can smell every penny invested well, and that’s how it should be.
Longevity is incredibly good; I can smell it distinctly for at least 10-15 hours, and the sillage is also very good; it radiated well yesterday and was well perceived.
My conclusion:
- Fleur de Desert is a magnificent, modern, sensual floriental that implements the theme of oud very accurately and moderately. It can be worn for any evening occasion, especially in the warmer months.
- Fleur de Desert could appeal to very stylish women from the cultural sphere of southern Arab and eastern countries, as it exudes a special understated sensuality. A sensuality for a very small circle of loved and familiar people, not for everyone. A sensuality without shouting and fuss, without an exaggerated sex appeal.
- Those who, like me, do not want or cannot wear oud and opulent rose fragrances will be very well served with other notes (jasmine flowers, honey, and cinnamon), which create just as chic, elegant, festive aura around the wearer.
Speaking of the wearer, I honestly see the fragrance much better on women. This does not mean that it would not suit a man, but certainly not the Nordic European type. There are surely better fragrances to be found! Fortunately, the selection of perfumes leaves no gaps, and everyone can find a scent for themselves.
- The technical properties such as longevity and concentration are the basis for making the purchase of the bottle financially worthwhile; such a bottle is extremely economical and, in my feeling, lasts for a whole lifetime.
That's all from my side; feel free to write in the comments if you know the fragrance and how it affects you!
Have a nice rest of the week and enjoy the weather!
