9Scent 8Longevity 7Sillage 9Bottle

No one for the second row!

I admit, Lui's video "Eccentrics of Scents" on his blog made me take a deeper look at Akkad, thank goodness in hindsight. This film made my perfume romantic heart beat faster, as it conveys emotions so aptly and perfectly, just like the fragrance itself. My developing gut feeling, including the spreading warmth in my belly, fits so precisely with the film and scent. Shortly thereafter, I opened the page of the perfumer school in Grasse... one is allowed to dream, after all! It is at this point that it becomes clear that my preference in chemistry class was often to play mini-golf (making small holes in the wooden school desks with the compass) with the little balls from the ink cartridges and the protractor instead of paying attention, because a chemistry degree seems to be a prerequisite for the school in Grasse... silly;-)!
By "second row" (on the fragrance shelf/cabinet), I mean artistic fragrances, where there seem to be no artistic and monetary boundaries. Perfume art that I admire from afar or at most "enjoy" in the quiet of my room on the back of my hand, these scents fascinate me in a way that makes my now somewhat tired perfume nose "perk up," but that is just a process in my head like "finally something new," "finally someone dares to do something," my gut feeling almost always decides against wearing it enjoyably, because for me the enjoyment simply does not arise... no feeling of comfort and enjoyment is triggered... which is my fundamental understanding of beautiful and great fragrances, and thus they gradually move to the second row at the back.
It may be that Akkad is perhaps not hyper-exciting, too smooth and sweet for some, but it is easy to wear with a sunny heart, uncomplicated, without overburdening the nose... and for me, anything but ordinary or boring. It creates a warm feeling, makes me overall softer and somehow more relaxed. I love this golden fragrance carpet (the bottle color is perfectly chosen) made of minimal freshness (mainly in the top note), the honey-sweet amber with creamy melt, and this fine, almost whispered, light incense. All notes are present from the start, all notes are always in perfect balance, which is why the fragrance also has a "Fars-Touch" for me, precisely because of its finesse, its balance... like from a fragrance manufactory... this not only evokes admiration in the mind but also love in the belly and heart. A wonderful scent for cold weather, for lazy Sundays on the sofa, or just to feel good; it is also suitable for business.
The longevity is perfect at 7-8 hours, the elevated sillage (present but office-appropriate) is just right. A fragrance for perfume lovers who rely solely on their gut when selecting a scent.

Nice comment! Are you referring to the scent Fars by Xerjoff with "Fars-Touch"?

A truly excellent scent, no doubt about it. However, on me, it’s simply resinous/earthy. So unfortunately, it’s not a contender for me.

I guess I need to test it again. My impression back then was unfortunately mainly shaped by vanilla pudding.

I think it's really beautiful, especially for this time of year... I believe it will take a backseat a bit in the spring;-)!

Yes, it’s really a lovely one! It was on my wish list for a long time before I finally treated myself to it! But right now, I'm tempted to sell it at the souk! Maybe I’ll hold off a bit longer! :-)

I think your comment captures the scent well, but I don’t find it extraordinary at all, like Yatagan; there are plenty like it. I believe it has something special for you that only you can perceive. It doesn’t matter what we think; it just has to be the right scent for you. **Pokal**

What Yatagan criticizes, I actually find commendable: Lubin doesn’t want to be extraordinarily different with their newer fragrances at all costs, but rather evoke "love in the belly and heart," as you aptly describe with Akkad. Now you should also try Galaad.

Great description. That's exactly how it is. One of my absolute favorites. So, I'm going to take a shower now and I already know what I'm putting on afterward :)

I think I know what you mean: It's one you can wear anytime (I call it an all-rounder) without it being banal or boring. On the other hand, to me, like almost all newer Lubins, it felt too close to the standard/mainstream/designer shelf, which has left me a bit disappointed with this once-significant brand.
