American Cream Lush 2011 Perfume

I am on the hunt for perfumes with creamy-milky notes - and as a loyal follower of this category, it was practically a must to try "American Cream" by Lush.

The name promises pure cream or buttercream, especially with "American" in the mix, one thinks of rich, sweet indulgence.

But what do I get? Not at all the expected dollop of cream! Thanks to Lush, this scent is far from an ordinary milkshake. Instead, I perceive lavender, rose, sage, and sweet play dough. To be honest, this whole thing reminds me more of a Play-Doh playset, garnished with a hint of powdery rose. The herbal notes and the touch of powder somehow dissipate the original charm of the name. I miss all the enticing ingredients of a milkshake: milk, sugar, and strawberries.

A small consolation for all vintage fans is that the perfume reminds me of waxy lipsticks and powdery rose. I can imagine that people who like the scent "Lipstick On" by Replica might also love this one. The scent is definitely not a modern, creamy fragrance, but rather a nostalgic vintage make-up experience. Unfortunately, it's not for me.
