Smells like if Picasso painted a rose

Okay I know my title might be like, “huh?”, but stay with me. If you know anything about Lush fragrances, you know that many of them are not considered crowd pleasers. The whole brand goes against the grain, and Rose Jam is definitely not your typical rose. It’s an abstract rose with colors and aspects that you wouldn’t expect from your run-of-the-mill rose.

RJ admittedly has a cruder blend, where it feels like the notes do not blend well together, but they also kind of do in a way? The lemon is LEMONING here, and bursts with a brightness right when you spray it. The lemon stays sharp and present from opening to pretty late in the dry down. Combined with the geranium and you have a very *sharp* scent that’s paired with a rather plush, pillowy rose. The rose is gently powdery, but also very sweet, and resembles a rose marmalade that may have had too much citrus added to it. It’s quirky, very indie-like, pretty, but also intense. Like a rose in painted in cubism. And the performance? Actually insane.

The thing with Rose Jam is you need to give it a second before you can really make an opinion of it. It’s really beautiful and whimsical once it has a chance to settle, and it leaves such a gorgeous trail behind you. And again, the performance is astounding. Stays in any fabric you apply it to and lingers for a looooong while.

Compared to Rose Jam Body Spray, the perfume is better blended and somewhat less sharp on the geranium. It’s not going to be a rose scent for everyone (even the rose lovers), but I quite enjoy it and have fond memories of it. It was the scent that introduced me to the world of Lush fragrances as a teenager.
