Well Roared, Lioness!

There are moments in the life of a perfume lover that shape them and even make them doubt everything that defines them olfactorily, if only for a brief moment. Isn’t it true that we secretly hope to be complimented on our new and wonderful niche fragrance and to be showered with unabashed admiration for our chosen taste? Haven’t we just spent half a fortune on this treasure, and what do we get to hear???
I believe the funniest and at the same time meanest thing someone told me in this regard was: "What smells so bad here? Do you smell that too? Did the cat throw up under the bed?"
Yes, it sounds funny, but for the lady to whom this remark was directed, it was certainly anything but nice.
So many experiences in my fragrance journey have taught me not to hope for compliments about my scent or even to be asked what I’m wearing. I wear my fragrances out of passion and actually just for myself....

But now to the point! My predecessor didn’t miss anything in terms of facts about "1900," and it’s not my intention to add anything to that. Much more, I want to share what this fragrance has done to me. Since it not only surprised me but literally knocked me off my feet, I want to share yesterday's experiences with you!

To elaborate a bit: a few days prior, I had fished out some perfumed care products from the far corner of my fragrance cabinet to finally use them up. Among them were two quite large orange-purple plastic containers of shower gel and body lotion "1900" by MCM.

Yesterday:
9:30 - I take a shower, use the mentioned gel from MCM (the experience doesn’t need much mention), and immediately apply the body lotion as well. I catch myself reaching for the bottle more often than necessary and must admit that the scent aura of this cream is very pleasant.
Therefore, I decide, partly out of sentimentality, to dab on the matching fragrance. Just right for a normal workday...

10:30 - The neighbor rings the bell and comes in for a quick chat.
"Hmm, what smells so nice here?" she asks me. "Huh? What do you mean?"
I look at her a bit puzzled. She wrinkles her nose like a rabbit and leans closer to my neck. "It's you, you smell so delicious!"
(Well, my neighbor isn’t exactly a fragrance connoisseur - I’m already considering whether to gift her "1900" for Christmas...)

1:00 PM - I enter my department at work, happily greet my favorite colleague, who immediately comments on my lovely scent. Wow! I didn’t expect that!

1:30 PM - In the meantime, two more colleagues have complimented me on my fragrance. I’m stunned!

3:00 PM - Break in the cafeteria, and my friend from the first floor is hanging around my neck as if she wants to bite me. "You smell so good!"

6:40 PM - I’m standing at the front door, just about to unlock it when my neighbor comes out. "Hello!" - "Hello!"
"Wow, you smell really good today, so... hmmmm, sexy" (and he grins from ear to ear) "Yeah, keep teasing me a bit more!" I try to put on an annoyed look! "No, seriously, your perfume is really great!"

8:00 PM - I’m walking ......
8:20 PM - I’m walking ......
8:45 PM - I’m still on the treadmill at the gym, and my body is now heated. The scent of my perfume spreads around me once again, and I can smell it mixed with my body’s scent.
It really smells wonderful and yes, somehow also sexy ........

11:30 PM - I’m lying in bed and doubting myself, my sanity, and especially my olfactory perception!

~

Conclusion:

Well roared, lioness - great show "1900" by MCM!
A "simple" and really not expensive fragrance manages to attract all the praise that I have often hoped for one of my expensive treasures.
But how does it do that?
I can’t really explain it! It is true that "1900" is a well-made fragrance, yet I want to stay far away from calling it a definitive work of art!
Something mysterious seems to surround this fragrance, something hidden....
Could it be the Selenicereus grandiflorus? I had to search for quite a while to find out what this queen of the night smells like! A snake cactus whose extraordinary bloom takes years to wait for. The flower, which blooms only for a few hours in a single night, one of the largest flowers of all known plants, smells of chocolate and vanilla and can grow up to 25 (40) centimeters wide.

Is it the effect of this flower that captivates so?
Or was yesterday just a coincidence?
I have been complimented on this fragrance before....

One thing became crystal clear again yesterday:
It doesn’t matter how much a fragrance costs or how modern it is, what matters is its effect - whether on the wearer themselves or their surroundings!

This fine and noble oriental with the most intoxicating note can still easily be seen and smelled today. Good thing I kept a bottle for myself....
So if you ever spot one on the lower shelves - dare to try it! There’s a Cinderella that few know is actually a princess! At that price, you really can’t go wrong :-)

Beautiful to read! You encourage me to stick with the treasures I still find beautiful and successful or to rediscover them. I repurchased Cabochard yesterday after 30 years *hoping for compliments too*!

Yes, I know your thoughts on the price and effect of perfumes all too well! Maybe that's why it's often the "niche" - because you don't want to hear from others what you actually smell like? ;-)

I gave it away some time ago, the 1900 - I must have missed something, it's a shame to read your great comment. But that's how it is - you don't always have to spend 200 euros to smell great! Btw, nice to have you back!
