Top in Taupe

“Pretty in Pink” was (yesterday) yesterday. Today, one scents “Top in Taupe.”

Yes, “Comma” actually smells taupe: It stands, like the color taupe, precisely on the border between cool and warm (see also Gaukeleya's comment!), between citrusy-clean freshness and woody creaminess. Somehow nude, but somehow not, because it's too cool and gray for that. But not quite as straight as a chic gray, because it is still creamy-lovely.

In this respect, it is an ideal candidate for fresh women who want to wear something a bit more velvety (in autumn!) than just the clean airheads. Or a fresh alternative for lovers of rich woody scents. Or simply a well-groomed (autumn) fragrance for the undecided.

Why autumn fragrance? Because in summer it might be a bit too creamy-woody and the sweet jasmine note could possibly be a “touch too much” at higher temperatures. In winter, it might be a bit too delicate and fresh to compete with the sweet-spicy bombers. In spring, one might long for something zestier. But for autumn: perfect!

I also find the notes about the base note interesting: Even though I can well imagine all three listed ingredients and can somehow smell them somewhere, the mixture smells more like cashmere wood (a frequent guest in the drugstore fragrance kitchen). So, is it just a prettying up? Maybe you should decide for yourselves.

I only deduct points for the (recognizable to a somewhat trained nose) drugstore base scent. Still: A beautiful and smooth fragrance construction. If I happen to come across a very small bottle (15-20 ml), it might come along.

I think it's really good for a drugstore scent. At dm, the EdT is only 20 ml and very affordable (11 or 12 euros).

Alright, you win: I'll test it occasionally. It wouldn't be the first drugstore scent you've "persuaded" me to try, ;-)!

I tested it and found it to be good... but nothing groundbreaking...

By the way: 20ml and 50ml are the standard sizes for EdT, and as far as I know, EdP is only available in 20ml; at least, that's the only size I'm familiar with.

*lol* No, definitely not a drugstore staple on me. But you're right about that jasmine note: it's unbearable in the summer. And you nailed it with the "candidate for fresh women" comment. That's exactly how I feel about this fragrance.

Exactly, the "drugstore basic scent." It sometimes puts me off, just like here.

The tester was definitely bigger. I'll pay more attention to the bottle sizes on my next drugstore visit (it was a quick test between errands ;-))

Yes, exactly, nice overall. By the way, all the bottles are small; I haven't seen a bigger one yet...?
