A Completely Normal Conformist
What do all the people talking about this being a bad Sauvage clone have a problem with? Admittedly, there is some Sauvage DNA present, but it is miles away from being a clone. It simply aligns itself with the current Sauvage trend and nonetheless has a largely independent character. I think that's great!
What Mäurer & Wirtz has created here is simply a new grooming line for the man who finds Tabac Original too old-fashioned, Tabac Manfire Power too sweet, and Tabac Gentle Men's Care too androgynous. I mean, which manufacturer still produces a complete grooming set from a fragrance these days, and in such quality and at such a price? And also Made in Germany, of course!
When I tested it today, aside from the Sauvage DNA, the rest somehow felt familiar. Then I realized which fragrance came to mind: Jean Paul Gaultier's discontinued Kokorico. To me, Tabac Original Craftsman smells like a blend of 20% Sauvage, 60% Kokorico, and the remaining 20% has its own character. For those who want a cheaper shower gel, I recommend "L'oreal Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap Shower Gel," as it also comes very close to the scent.
Overall, it is a really pleasant clean man scent for everyday use and not a real pantydropper for the evening, but I also believe that it was never Mäurer & Wirtz's intention to bring out something grand here, but simply to create a pleasant everyday fragrance for today's young man, which they have certainly succeeded in.
