Ch. 1 - Blaze of Stillness Maison Margiela 2026

Blaze of Stillness from the house of Margiela is my third fragrance from the Scentsorium series - and it wasn't actually planned at all. Among my friends, bets were already being placed that it would not be Chapter 1, but Chapter 5. But the longer I "sniffed" at it - and the 3 other fragrances - the clearer it became to me that it will be a fantastic scent for this summer.
This "Glow of Stillness" comes across in my nose in a completely different way than the fragrance pyramid would suggest. Summery? Definitely! But just a freshie? Definitely not!
The bergamot does announce itself right at the beginning, but it is immediately intercepted by the delicate, floral notes of neroli. Thus, from the very first moment, an intense summer vibe is created - at the same time, Blaze of Stillness has a depth and complexity at every moment that I often miss in many summer fragrances.
The fig presents itself here in a completely different way than in Gris Charnel or Fig Porn. A green fig is likely used here, which, in my perception, creates both freshness and depth in the scent.
The overall impression is not really a typical summer fragrance for me; the bitter, sometimes almost woody notes are too prominent.
The patchouli, just like the suede, is very finely integrated. From the very beginning, it serves as the foundation for the fragrance, but remains - at least in my perception - more of a supporting actor than a star.
It is, as I perceive it, a rather dense interplay of the individual components, which invites less to dissect the fragrance.
Is Blaze of Stillness worth its, admittedly high, price?
As so often - I don't know. For me, it is a beautiful, unusual summer fragrance. I had a wonderful, long conversation with the representatives of the house of Margiela, which turned out to be more than just a sales pitch. It was much about enthusiasm for perfume, for individual experiences, and ultimately also many other brands that one is passionate about. This memory is now also captured in a bottle in my perfume cabinet.
Perfume is pure luxury for me. And - just for me - Blaze of Stillness is worth this money.
