Classic, but not outdated

Few would associate vetiver with sensuality, but rather with practicality. Of course, there are many different variations of the sweet grass - from green to earthy-smoky - but in most classic perfumes, the middle ground is sought. Just like Montale with Vetiver Patchouli, Mancera has created a scent that leans slightly towards Orage; however, I find the Louis Vuitton to be more reserved, powdery, and also grayer.

The sensual side of Vetiver Sensuel could be interpreted as the slightly fresh effect at the beginning, which for me mainly arises from bergamot and orchid. Here, I do not see the citrus or the light floral quality as truly dominant, as both are well balanced and a green facet is already noticeable. The mint is, in my opinion, only subtly detectable in the background, while the pepper adds a bit of spice. The initial impressions thus result from a blend of masculine and feminine notes, of classic and modern elements. Gradually, however, these boundaries shift, as the subtly dry-woody component and the typical fading of the top notes make Vetiver Sensuel seem a bit 'old school' now. Amber/sweet notes play no role here, rather patchouli and oak moss in a supportive manner. The scent remains relatively bright and, fortunately, does not become powdery, which otherwise makes many perfumes associated with vetiver and/or a certain soapiness perceived as very outdated.

Conclusion: Mancera has created a pleasant, naturally appearing vetiver scent that, while it does not offer a true refreshment, seems appropriate for all seasons. As expected, it is more suitable for mature individuals, ultimately does not quite live up to its name, and is personally a bit too classic for me. (I am not necessarily the biggest fan of vetiver-dominated scents.) However, for those who generally enjoy this direction, considering a test at the good price-performance ratio would be worthwhile.

Vetiver = sweet grass, not licorice.

I find vetiver scents quite sensual as well. When my better half wears Grey Vetiver or Vetiver d'Hiver, I literally cling to his neck. I haven't tried this one yet. Your comment has piqued my curiosity.
