Toffee for the Mature Gentleman
In search of a caramel scent, I came across "Marbert Man Pure Black Intense | Marbert."
I heard a lot of positive things about it online, and the reviews here aren't too bad either.
Given the price, I didn't have high expectations.
And yet, I was very disappointed by the opening.
A very unpleasant, synthetic cardamom note is quite prominent in the first minutes.
It gives me real old-school vibes, so it's really not my thing.
The fragrance costs 10-15€ and you have to wait just as long, about 10-15 minutes, until it slowly becomes pleasant.
Then, the toffee note actually comes to the forefront and remains prominent while the cardamom gradually fades away.
However, it’s not a playful, overly sweet toffee note like you might find in some clubbing fragrances.
It smells more woody, slightly sweet, and not entirely realistic as something edible.
That might appeal to many.
So, for those expecting a realistic toffee/caramel scent, I must unfortunately disappoint you.
It has more of a toffee vibe that comes across as very masculine and mature, especially in combination with the cedarwood.
Finally, toffee for a more mature audience.
Cedarwood and toffee are the notes that you can perceive until the end.
You definitely have to be a fan of both notes to enjoy the fragrance.
The performance is, I would say, maximally average.
I had hoped for a stronger projection, but for the low price, that's completely fine.
The longevity, on the other hand, is slightly better.
My conclusion: You can try it, but you don't have to.
Personally, I wouldn't buy a bottle; it just doesn't blow me away. And currently, I'm only buying fragrances that convince me 100%, which Marbert... simply does not.
You can find it at Müller, where you can also test it if this review sounds interesting.
Because unfortunately, the fragrance is not safe for a blind buy.
Better to test it first.
