Bang Bang Marc Jacobs 2011

A sugary citrus scent, perfect for young men
I really fell in love with Bang when it first came out, with its rich peppery woods and modern masculinity, so I guess I expected this flanker, Bang Bang, to be along the same lines as the original. I was quite surprised and impressed when I discovered that it was an entirely different composition, much sweeter than I'd ever imagined.
Bang Bang opens with soft, sugary lemon and a hint of spice. For the most part, the top notes exude an interesting sparkling crispness on the skin with a touch of green notes peeking through. At this point Bang Bang is intimate and subtle.
The heart makes way for more intense spiciness with the introduction of the cardamom note. However, the spices aren't too full-blown here, partly due to a milky powderiness that tends to dominate the composition. The sweet, citrusy lemon accord thankfully remains.
The drydown becomes milkier and sweeter still, with sandalwood and musk concluding a rather unique fragrant experience. If anything, Bang Bang could be unisex, but it certainly wears well on a man. I would know, especially seeing that I purchased this for my boyfriend only last week.
My man loves sweet scents, and Bang Bang satisfies his cravings without making me nauseous in the process. The sillage while intimate, is in no way a reflection on the lasting strength, which was impressive to say the least.
For a bit of an aggressive bite, I'd choose Bang, but for something less in-your-face, Bang Bang does the job nicely.
