MANHATTEN LIGHT - supposedly only for women?

Massimo Duti - as it is said, founded in 1985!

But is it not a fashion brand behind which a natural person stands or stood, like once Karl Lagerfeld, Yves St. Laurent, or Óscar de la Renta, or today Joop?
No, Massimo Dutti is just the name of a fashion chain, like C & A, Zara, or H & M.
But a bit more elegant, both in the design of the stores and in the design of the clothing.

And this chain, acquired in 1991 by the fashion distribution giant Inditex, also offers its own perfumes. These can sometimes be purchased in perfumeries in Spain, but not in Germany.

Here, the perfumes can only be found - and thus exclusively - in Massimo Dutti boutiques, which have recently been opened in Germany, such as in Frankfurt/M., Mannheim, or Baden-Baden, to name just a few locations.

Previously, until 2009, the fragrances of Massimo Dutti were produced and marketed by the Spanish perfume and fashion giant Puig.
However, this is no longer the case - the current manufacturer is unknown.

It can be assumed that the Spanish parent company INDITEX, to which ZARA and Bull & Bear also belong, just like Massimo Dutti - all of which have their own perfume lines - now produces these at their own perfume production site, which is unknown.

And here now the comment on MANHATTEN LIGHT, the fragrance I acquired not too long ago in Mannheim.

I was particularly struck by the bottle because of the name - Manhatten Light!
Immediately, I was informed by the employee of the Massimo Dutti boutique that on the left side of the perfume display were the women's fragrances, and separated by a small divider, on the right were the men's fragrances.

After testing various other scents from this collection on paper strips, I ultimately decided on Manhatten Light. The biggest surprise for me was the price.
Discounted due to the Corona VAT reduction, the price for this 100 ml Eau de Parfum was only just under €49!

With great anticipation, I unpacked the perfume at home. Particularly striking was the high-quality packaging in the form of a white sturdy case, so not just a plain cardboard box with the usual “lid-off mechanism.” And as an additional special feature, a high-quality small white fabric bag, where the bottle can be placed, for example, for travel as a protective separate.

The scent itself opens with a subtly fresh bergamot note. In my opinion, it is a light, very fresh fragrance that can generally be described as floral-fresh. One really has to engage all the olfactory senses to recognize the upcoming scent components. Massimo Dutti does not reveal much in the form of a fragrance pyramid, as is customary with most other perfume manufacturers.

After a while, the peony joins in a broad form, which does not remain alone, as a kind of vetiver is very lightly present as a companion. This whole composition then runs a bit linearly until, after a certain time, the last component - also subtle - musk rounds off the perfume.
All in all, a very, very elegant-soft scent composition, where I do not understand why this Eau de Parfum is labeled as a “women's fragrance” and not as a unisex fragrance, as it is - in my opinion - also perfectly suitable for men!

A perfume that passed its scent trial with me excellently during the waning extreme summer of 2020!

ADDENDUM from October 16, 2022

Unfortunately, I have to note that during my recent visits to Mannheim and Baden-Baden, the Massimo Dutti boutiques there no longer exist.
Whether it is due to the negative effects of Corona or the not-so-high recognition of this Spanish fashion chain, I cannot say ....

Beautiful, insightful comment! Sounds lovely, but it might be a bit too floral for me...
