wearing the Dragon to work
I'm a big fan of Cartier's Le Baiser du Dragon (The Dragon's Kiss; sometimes known by its detractors as "Dragon Breath"), with its powerful patchouli-benzoin-cedar and its delicious syrupy amaretto-caramel note with its edges rounded off by (surprisingly) a hint of gardenia. As many have noted, the Dragon settles down nicely after a while. But it's still not the type of thing most of us would wear to work.
That's where the lovely MaxMara Kashmina Touch comes in. This little-known scent strikes me as the Dragon you can wear to work. Instead of a powerful femme fatale, this cheerful take on amaretto (helpfully lightened with a pretty orange note) instead transmits the message that its wearer is a happy, competent bon vivant. Not much sillage here, just a quiet aura of comfort. I'm happy to have stumbled across it.
