magical, smoky dark

For many years now, this bottle from my dear friend Can777 has been here, and like many others he chose for me, it took me some time, and several writing attempts, to approach “Osang” from Mendittorosa’s “Talismans-Collection”:
So complex is this fragrance, so deep and strongly touching the senses.

Now seems to be the right time; perhaps it is spring with all the budding life that grants me access to a fragrant opening, a clover-filled blooming meadow with many insects playfully feeding.
Some bright notes in the otherwise somber fragrance concert: Even as this spring and summer meadow matures throughout the scent's development, the initially fresh floral green transforms into fragrant hay and the harvest of bees into rich, creamy, and golden honey.
Only heliotrope with its veil of vanilla withstands this transformation until it magically intertwines with the powdery summery beauty of the proud iris, thus spreading the net for the spicy and resinous-smoky variety that now follows.
Here, the brightness of this composition also comes to an end; from now on, dark tones and sounds dominate the slowly spreading scent image on the skin.
Styrax resin still carries a hint of vanilla within it, creating brief light effects in the emerging smoke clouds of precious and delicious resins, whose selection might be somewhat of an acquired taste.
Benzoin and labdanum meet golden-brown myrrh chunks, while incense and amber veils marry with the striking, familiar musk-animalic: This rich, heavily spiced smoke with nutmeg and pepper awakens the senses, enchants them, or brushes them the wrong way, possibly even repelling - it varies depending on the day!
Heavy oud clouds set fragrant highlights before surprisingly creamy sandalwood accords together with Peru balsam provide a soft, fully floating final note.
Any unevenness in the fragrance development is smoothed out by this; a distant feeling of well-being emerges.

“Osang” also presented its barbs to me for a long time, which I could not quite handle; I never managed to get even close to the harmonious fragrance finale.
Currently, a journey has developed for me from the green, blooming resurrection to the resinous, heavily spiced dark, deep within the earth with all its questions and its magic!

Does this “Talisman” hold a memory of what was or/and of what is to come?
Rich sillage and lasting durability provide an opportunity to ponder this.
“Osang” is not an everyday fragrance companion, not just a fleeting encounter.
Rather, it opens the door to a place of contemplation, a capsule for pausing, lingering, and finding oneself.

Absolutely spot on. I wore it again tonight. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Today I'm enjoying it. 🙂

The way you always phrase things, I quote:
"it also presented its barbs to me for a long time, which I just couldn't handle; I never managed to get even close to the harmonious scent finale."
I have similar fragrances, and it takes time for them to reveal themselves. You've described it wonderfully once again; I always enjoy reading your reviews!
