The Civet God
The test of The Men Silver was an absolute surprise for me. Due to the numerous reviews of Kouros, I feared the worst: from shower gel and changing rooms to foot odor and sweat, the wildest impressions were described.
I must admit that I initially couldn't make much of the very first impression. It smelled indefinable, but after a while, the vetiver was clearly in the foreground. I occasionally smelled the sprayed paper at room temperature over the next 1-2 days, and the scent slowly changed for me.
Today, at 36 degrees in summer, I dared a grand experiment with three sprays on clothing and skin.
The scent was now fresh, spicy, and clean at the start. After some time, it became floral and greenish, then dry and woody with a beautifully embedded civet note. (I already knew this from "Al Oudh")
It was really as described here that I had to learn to smell the fragrance. I cannot understand the negative interpretations in the comments once again.
I could imagine that the olfactory experience with "The Men Silver" could vary depending on the temperature; it probably fits best with a hot summer. The blind purchase was definitely worth it for me.
Now I am looking forward to testing the current Kouros in comparison soon.
Addendum - both fragrances are quite different, but at their core, there are certain similarities, as has already been described here. Here are the most noticeable differences for me in a direct comparison. The top notes of Silver and Kouros both smell good but are completely different: Silver: vetiver, floral, smoky; Kouros: animalic, floral, sweet. Heart notes: Silver: spicy, green, later vanillic and smoky; Kouros: sweet, later green + spicy, scent becomes significantly weaker. Base note: Silver: skin-close amber, earthy; Kouros: sweet, "perfume-like" finish.
Addendum December 22: fits perfectly with cold and damp weather, the scent now smells finer to me and radiates a pleasant warmth. The animalic note is now practically gone.
