Strange Interaction

Today I would like to comment on another Mona di Orio fragrance. My two test scents (Carnation and Lux) are, in summary, rather unusual, nothing that one would be immediately enthusiastic about. While Carnation still shows a certain line, this is almost completely absent in Lux; everything feels almost like "wildly mixed together".

At the beginning, a wonderful Petitgrain/lemon start reveals itself. Litsea Cubeba is unknown to me; online, the fragrance description includes terms like "lemony" or "fresh," which are also very fitting, but nothing that stands out specifically. The beginning of the fragrance is, therefore, very successful in my opinion, very natural and fresh. I was reminded of Annick Goutal's "Eau de Hadrien," where the lemon is also very natural, almost like freshly squeezed lemon juice. However, the top note in Lux is very fleeting; after just a few moments, the heart note joins in, and it is simply unusual.

Fresh lemon and vetiver, that not only sounds a bit strange but also makes me doubt whether this fragrance progression is well thought out. Freshness and (slightly musty) darker tones clash with each other. Very discordantly arranged, especially since there is a complete lack of transition from fresh to woody/spicy. Suddenly, the heart note is there and spoils the wonderful start. The lemon seems unwilling to say goodbye and forms, with the vetiver and a bit of sandalwood (if it weren't mentioned here, I would hardly have noticed it), the centerpiece of Lux. The base slowly makes itself known after about 20 minutes: a little musk is added, but the other components are not perceptible, which is a pity.

In summary, Lux is simply a strange mixture of great individual components. The longevity is also not very high, which isn't too bad for this strange fragrance.

Die Düfte sind wirklich interessant und die "Zutaten" sehr hochwertig, allerdings ist Lux so enttäuschend für mich
