Saffron Monotheme 2021

...are they too strong. No, I’m not talking about Fishermen's Friend, but rather the fragrance notes that penetrate directly from my sweater into my nose and the deepest recesses of my brain.

I have never encountered such a strong scent, where just one spray is enough to envelop you completely and nearly overwhelm you. Not in a negative sense, but... This is really viiiiivid. Too much? Maybe, I’m not sure. This is certainly not a trivial scent that you casually spray on for a parents' evening.

But now to the fragrance notes: At first, I smell something very medicinal, honey-sweet, and numbing. Something reminiscent of incense sticks, but without the smoke. Something dark, deep, and woody. Something spicy, but no definable spice.

In the drydown, however, the fragrance becomes increasingly gentle, especially on the skin, revealing an almost creamy-woody, mild sweetness.

A clear unisex perfume. To envelop oneself, but not to snuggle. To calm oneself, but not to find peace. Perhaps like a drug that soothes you but doesn’t let you rest.

Do I like this perfume? Yes, it touches something in me. Do I love it? Yes, and I say this in the hope that this love doesn’t turn out to be a fleeting passion. Would I recommend it? Yes, especially considering the price, but one must be willing to do so.
