I am male and certainly do not look androgynous, but my skin refuses many men’s fragrances and all the gourmand scents I have tested so far. Especially with the gourmand fragrances, my skin reacts very mustily.
But! When I try any floral bombs, it seems my skin is always happy. The toughest aldehyde bombs become bearable on it, and this has been confirmed by others as well.
So I got myself a sample of Powder-Flowers!
And what can I say! The stuff doesn’t smell bad on my skin. Montale naturally hits you with a top note in the first 5 minutes that leaves your nasal mucosa numb and only makes you think of aldehydes. But then it powders heavily. I wonder if the powdered wigs in the Baroque period smelled like this? Of course not near the rather unwashed heads of that time! ;O)
As my predecessor mentioned, there is nothing sweet here. The flowers are covered with a thick layer of powder, and on my skin, the jasmine clearly has the advantage. It strongly reminds me of the 80s.
Well, I guess I’ll have to check out women’s fragrances more often soon. ;O)
I would say that after the initial powder blast, there's also some anise and iris in there. You really have to get through the beginning, no doubt about that.
