Dark Lurking in the Depths
It begins slowly. Dark berries float on top, aromatic, fruity, also prickly and slightly rough.
Almost already inside but still quite at the top, orange flowers with a faint hint of "animalic." Not really "animalic," yet not purely "plant-based." But this makes me incredibly curious about what is yet to come. WHAT COMES???
A quiet rumbling, something wants to emerge, struggling, not quite there yet, but it’s only a matter of time.---WAITING---I’m happy to wait, to enjoy the suspense.
The first to stir is a rose, velvety red, darkly shimmering and equally fragrant.
Together with a hint of jasmine, just escaping the deepest level.
But it doesn’t take long for patchouli to join in, bathing everything in a deep brown, reddish light.
Like distant lamplight behind a window on a moonless night. Dreamy and beautiful.
Time of silence, time for reflection on the essentials.
This silence is hardly touched by what now wants to stir, like from afar, akin to silent mists. Yet distinctly felt. VIBRATIONS.
The impression of invisible, spicy smoke, ancient and sublime.
And woods transformed into "liquid gold" from trees long gone. The scents of their bark and inner wood finely preserved. Dark and warm. Tinty "tar-like" accents, far away yet perceptible.
Where do they come from? And where do they go?
They emerge from the depths of the fragrance, first lurking, seeking interest, lingering for a long time before slowly disappearing back to where they came from.
In the stillness of darkness.....
