A Sensual And Comforting Leather
This review is about Fruit de la Creativité, one of the three gems under the Les Signes de Grès series that I blindly bought, almost underrated and unknown. I read they designed these three perfumes to pay homage to the style and elegance of the Grès house. The packaging follows a line common to all peers in the collection, with a bottle with broad shoulders and a narrow bottom, a flat golden T-shaped cap, and a juice and label of different colors.
Initially, the fragrance features a body with a classic presence and something dark in the roses and musks with a muted patchouli-like air that follows a 1980s perfumery style. The opening reveals a nuance of alcoholic bitter almond, similar to that found in Amaretto Di Saronno. Bergamot is not sharp or acidic, and there is little citrus in the top notes. Soon after, it adds the cold spiciness of a caramelized saffron with an aroma that gradually softens its intensity. The initial stage is soft and docile leather.
There is a dark rose with spicy and toasted cedar wood between the heart notes. Fruit de la Créativité turns into a light powdery rose, the iris root adds a touch of dustiness, and a hint of coffee with amber wood stems softens the heart. The aroma becomes sweeter, the rose note clears, and an accord of fruity red berries opens at times, a chypre and toasted leather accord mix with the raspberry, not at all acid. The central stage is somewhat gourmand, pleasant, and never cloying.
Fruit de la Créativité centers the finish on a sweet musk and leather with roasted coffee beans, a very trendy accord, and gives originality to the perfume. There are backgrounds of oriental elements and skin, which sometimes resemble oud, and I could even imagine the patchouli inside, but maybe it’s just an effect resulting from the mix of the other notes.
Of the three, Fruit de La Créativité is the deepest of the line, Les Signes de Grès. Within the collection, this fragrance has a style similar to that of its pair Etat de Grâce following a warm line, slightly spiced with the presence of roses, however, Fruit de la Creativité has a more caramelized aroma thanks to touches of more resinous notes and musky. This perfume has moderate longevity and sillage, making it the ideal perfume to wear in the colder months of fall for extravagant nights. Finally, the fragrance has interpreted a particular leather with an oriental character powdered by a dusty floral top draped with white musks.
I base this review upon a 100ml (3.4 fl. oz.) bottle I own since March 2021.
