British Statement in Earthy-Spicy
That the Brits can create great fragrances, I have known for a long time.. Numerous "Penhaligons" and "Floris" - The "Woods of Windsors" and "Old Bond-Streets" prove this! However, the house "Murdock" was completely unknown to me until now.
With this "Patchouli," I have a true specimen of earthy-spicy fragrance under my nose! It starts off quite rough and slightly bitter with undertones of bitter citrus fruits and "dark" spices. Fresh and sharp is the pepper, aromatic and earthy is the nutmeg.
But it doesn't stay that rough and raw. Fresh flowers weave fine threads in - without, however, smelling sweet or even lovely. They set minty-rosy-green-jasmine accents that are very harmonious.
Slowly but surely, the long-lasting perfume deepens into earthy-smoky realms. First, the patchouli presents its earthy tones like an echo from forest floors.
The well-perceptible incense joins in, particularly interesting here in combination with the pepper. Moss and sandalwood bathe everything in a mild, balsamic-resinous light. And inky birch tar ultimately closes the ranks.
Here, friends and lovers of deeper scents will truly get their money's worth. It makes a British statement of a very special and uniquely willful kind - Wonderful!

Not Just for Bearded Men
Murdock operates several shops in London that uphold the "Great British tradition of luxury grooming for men," meaning they are traditional barbershops.

Additionally, they offer six Colognes, which are described as "modern with a pleasant touch of history," a description I find quite accurate.

Patchouli: Sometimes old love truly does not rust. Many years ago, I had already worn Patchouli, and now the time was ripe for a new Patchouli fragrance.

Patchouli, this classic and timeless scent that has been used for centuries, is combined here in the top notes with various spices, as well as with Petitgrain, which brightens the fragrance and makes the beautiful spice fresher.

Soon, the floral heart notes emerge more strongly and linger longer, robust and full, not delicate and romantic. The geranium is particularly noticeable here, with Ylang-Ylang present to a lesser extent. I am faintly reminded of ethereal rosewood oil, likely due to the combination of geranium with pepper.

And then there is the Patchouli itself: spicy, always distinctly perceivable in all phases, but never overwhelming, yet with the characteristic earthiness of patchouli (without mustiness or heaviness) and a simultaneous light sweetness (which is not, as is often the case, combined with vanilla and thus sliding into cloying territory).

Overall, "Patchouli" is a very balanced Patchouli fragrance; despite its obvious sensuality, it also has a cheerful lightness due to the fine floral-spicy freshness that makes it suitable for everyday wear.

When considering the aromatherapeutic effects attributed to Patchouli, namely balancing, grounding, and relaxing, uplifting and antidepressant, aphrodisiac, there is nothing against using this beautiful fragrance.

The longevity is far superior to many Colognes and is more comparable to an Eau de Toilette.

Imagine that you smell a freshly showered cowboy. As he walks away you're overtaken by the smell of hay and cows. Extremely wearable and versatile.

Peppered sweet-bitter, smoky Barber Patch. Reminds me a bit of my father's aftershave "Hâttric"

Absolutely heavenly scent, completely unique, it reveals something melancholic yet invigorating, an almost tropical lushness.

Very nice patch, a bit too woody in the base but with a lovely fruity top note that somehow reminds me of Aventus! H and S good!

The scent feels shielded for a long time due to the top notes, and the well-crafted base comes through late. It would be nice if it had more punch.

My husband thinks it smells like a relaxing bath additive. For me, just ambient, citrusy petitgrain. I struggle with the other notes.
