Witty, Sparkling Brazilian
Hümor a dois is one of the freshest and most sparkling fragrances from the house of Natura. Since the brand is quite unknown in Germany, a brief note: "Natura" is, alongside brands like "o Boticario," one of the major fragrance and cosmetics brands in Brazil. In their boutiques, you can find not only soaps and various creams but also a very respectable selection of perfumes, with new ones frequently being added. Many of the fragrances are created, to my knowledge, in collaboration with Symrise through their branch near Sao Paulo. At the moment, I seem to be the only one in the entire Parfumo world who owns this fragrance. However, I did discover a first Natura boutique in Paris last year, and if this trend continues, it may only be a matter of time before a few other Parfumos get their hands on one or another scent.
During my trip to Brazil, I naturally spent a lot of time exploring various perfumeries. It is quite a challenge to find initial orientation in this overflowing selection (fragrances and scented products hold a significant place in everyday life in Brazil). Much of it didn't quite match my taste. For my nose, it was mostly too shrill, too overtly youthful.
Hümor a dois, however, was one of the three candidates from Natura that made it back to Germany in a bottle in my suitcase.
Now, let's talk about the scent:
Hümor a dois lives up to its name right from the start. It is a witty fragrance. For me, the first impression exudes a sparkling, light humor. Not a humor with too much depth, but rather light and quick. It then develops into a rather classic fougère with a certain sweet wavering on a herbal/woody base. However, as previously mentioned, this is accompanied by a distinct acidity that gives the fragrance a nice spritz. The scent that comes to mind as similar is Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch.
The sparkling acidity remains present in the fragrance for quite a while before it retreats to a rather weak woody base that indeed resembles oak moss. At this stage, however, the scent is only very faintly perceivable. A rather short longevity characterizes the fragrance. I want to be clear that I do not wish to call this a flaw, as an extended longevity would not suit the fragrance either. The scent does not tell a long story but rather offers a crisp, witty, and easily digestible short story, hence the notable sillage at the beginning. With this fragrance, you cannot hide yourself - at least in the first one or two hours.
Personally, I prefer to wear this fragrance on warm summer afternoons when I am freshly showered after sports, strolling around in casual clothes, perhaps with a cold beer in hand. For this occasion, I find the fragrance perfect. It gives me a light feeling, allows me to wander while engaging in brief conversations about how pleasant the weather is, and lets me quickly say goodbye with a fleeting laugh.
