An okay flanker, a little pricey at retail
Purchased from : eBay
Price paid : $20 for 85% full bottle
Format : 1.7 oz bottle
Method : sprayed onto left arm
Fair warning here, I am not a Voyage fan. I initially bought regular Voyage and enjoyed it so much that I went out and bought the flankers for it. After my Voyage OG was open for about a month, it started getting the dreaded cucumber sour milk aroma. I couldn't do it. It was gag-inducing. I sold it within a bundle at a slight loss and moved on.
I have held onto the flankers, and there's some I like, and some I don't. You can about guess that the ones I don't like are the ones that smell like its namesake.
So here we go. Sprayed at 1:10 PM.
The initial spray cloud is awful, like straight cucumbers, mustiness, and spoiled milk. It's almost scrubbable. Thankfully, it settles within a minute to slight warm amber tones, with quite a bit of pleasant ripe pomegranate........and something I'd call "cream of windex". I can't describe it any better than that. It's very windex-ish. Yet milky. Hmm.
A half hour later some llight lemon-y tones develop, but still lots of cucumber wrapped in amber. Too much cucumber.
An hour into this baby and I finally got the warm amber tones I was after. There's still a bit of Voyage gross-ness but it's far more tolerable since the warmer notes are punching through. Still projecting nicely.
At 4:45 PM Midnight is still very strong, projecting at 2", a faded warm ambery glow. No cucumber or melon for past 2 hours. This has performed well.
At 7 PM I can still smell it on my skin if I put my nose to it. It has surprising performance for me. High marks. Unfortunately it's not one of my ride-or-die scents.
The atomizer could use some work too, it's the weakest of all the Voyage bottles I have.
Overall, if you're a Voyage fan, you'll probably be 50/50 on this because while it's a Voyage flanker, it's not as Voyage-y as some of the others. It skews warm/masculine/amber, but still has some of the annoying Voyage qualities you might love. Likewise, if you're not a Voyage fan, you'll probably be 50/50 on it for the same reasons.
Let me get my dig in : Midnight Voyage IS VERY expensive though. At least when compared to the other Voyage flanks. If you do the math, a 3.4 oz bottle of MV (they don't exist) would cost $57.74, based on the 1.6 oz prices in 2025.
It's just not worth it!
